How do the media images & stereotpyes of men & women impact how we view each other professionally (at school, at work, in politics, etc.)?

i think that the medias images of men and women changes how we think of eachother or what to expect from the opposite sex. in the media it shows most of the time that women need to look completly beautiful, they need to be very skinny, with beautiful hair and skin, with big eyes with long lashes. they show women as a sex symbol most of the time and it sends messages to girls that they need to be that way or that guys should expect girls to be like that. it shows that boys need to be really buff and thin and have a nice face with good hair and thats just not right. people shoould be able to be themselves and be loves for that, not how they look on the outside. at school the media trys to show that like jocks are dumb and jerks or blondes are stupid and mean or prepy, or smart kids are nerdy and never get out. its complete crap because i hang out with tons of different types of people and there stereotypes are wrong, and its not fair to judge someone upon that. you could miss out on a lot of great friends, good employes or even someone for the government if you go by stereotypes instead of taking the time to get to really know a person.

In The Secret life of the American Teenager, it is about a young 15 year old girl who makes a mistake once and ends up getting pregnant. In the show they try to show that you can still make it through life and achieve your goals even though you hit some bumps in the road. They also show that family and friends are very important to have because they will always be there for you, the show also shows that you can find good in all people and that everyone makes mistakes, that doesnt mean that they are bad people. this show is one of my favorites and i highly recommend it, i actually learn something from it and its interesting, plus the drama makes me feel better because my life isnt that crazy.

Why should consumers be worried about media conglomerates? Explain your thoughts in detail. Support your ideas with specific examples, if possible.

I think that the consumers should be worried about media conglomerates because if takes away the diversity in the media if one or two businesses own and take care of tons of smaller ones. the smaller ones would just end up being all the same because of the big business that owns them. they wouldnt have free range to do what they want in any type of media they use. some examples would be like tv. magazines, books, video games, advertisements ect. in the end everything would seem the same or have the basic same idea, we would lose the variety the diversity in the media, it would no longer be the same or as interesting. so consumers should worry about it.
